This may very well be the saddest movie I have ever seen in my life, but it is also one of the best. If you have not seen it yet, I highly recommend that you do. It tells the record of two young women who meet when they are 11 years old-fashioned. At a peek, they seem like two completely different people, but in the slay, it’s their strong devotion to their friendship that develop them so cessation. Bette Midler does an grand job in her portrayal as CC Bloom, a feisty redhead who is definite to succeed in music and will do almost anything to do so. Hilary Whitney, played by the talented Barbara Hershey, is a smooth, reserved woman who often finds herself jealous of CC’s rising success. CC and Hilary may be very different, but they grow even closer when Hilary gives birth to a child–a gorgeous slight girl named Victoria. When Hilary becomes diagnosed with a fatal disease, she is forced to search her soul and strengthen her relationships with CC and Victoria. Throughout the movie, CC and Hilary go through many difficult times, but in the raze, their friendship prevails. I definitely recommend this movie to everyone, but don’t query to have dry eyes at the raze! It will design you laugh, it will obtain you yowl, and it will touch every portion of your heart. It really does exhibit that even though two friends may be very different from one another, and even though they may go through a lot of rough times, it is the strength of their friendship that will be the decisive element. Go scrutinize this movie–you won’t be sorry!

Beaches is one of the best movies I have ever seen, it is one of my popular. I have never seen such a sharp film about friends, and the trials and tribulations, the joys and fears, that go with the friendship. The music, is pleasant. By far Bette’s best music to date. On many tracks there is a resonance of sadness in each imprint. The standout obviously is the classic ballad “Wind Beneath My Wings”, very uplifting, dark, but joyous at the same time. I sang it at a friend’s funeral a few years ago. “Baby Mine”, “The Friendship Theme” (instrumental) and “I Assume It’s Going To Rain Today” are all murky songs, that invent you assume on life (along with “Wind Beneath My Wings”) and realize how precious and short our lives are, and how we shouldn’t rob it for granted. The fun side is shown through songs like “I’ve Detached Got My Health” and “Otto Titsling”. I also really like the veil of the Dolly Parton song “I Know You By Heart”, its on Dolly’s 1987 Rainbow album (out of print) and its a duet with Smokey Robinson. Overall though, this is a shapely album to listen to, its impartial brimming with quality material and talent. I also suggest you accompany this cd with the movie, absolutely a must discover if you haven’t seen it yet!

I, like the other reviewer before me, remember watching this in a movie theater when it was first released; my grandfather took me to stare it and I must have been about 4 or 5 years traditional. I remember being totally mesmerized at the plan of seeing my “heroes” on the ample hide, and I didn’t recede a muscle the entire time the movie was rolling. And yes, I will also agree that the film’s extinguish can have you shedding a gallop or two, with Linus’ reminder, “Did you eye something, Charlie Brown? The world didn’t reach to an waste”, after Charlie Brown feels that he has humlitated himself one too many times. You can imagine, this film has a very special station in my heart. It retained several of the new character voices, including Peter Robbins, the first and best Charlie Brown. This is also the only one of the four theatrical features to exhaust Vince Guaraldi’s trademark theme music. I engage explain with the statement that the additional songs unexcited for the movie by Rod McKuen are “absurd”. I belief the title tune was very touching, featuring the lyric, “We’re all a Boy Named Charlie Brown”. Indeed…….That was the genius of Charles Schulz in a nutshell; he created characters that mirrored all of us. Please score this film and introduce your kids to it…….Encourage pass along Mr Schulz’s legacy. (If you can come by the out-of-print soundtrack album for this film, I highly recommend it as well.)

Though I highly recommend this film for children, it is by no means a movie that can be enjoyed only by children, with mindless dialogue and aimless status. On the contrary; I am a 19-year-old college student, and even though I should technically be writing a review on Fellini’s “Satyricon” as I sip some kind of mocha and smoke a cigarette, I instead determine to rave about the merits of this intellectual, unbelievable minute film. I would first like to dwelling that the soundtrack is absolutely Amazing. Vince Guaraldi really outdoes himself in this film, with my favorites being “Baseball Theme” and “Surfin’ Snoopy”. I’m sorry to say that many of the songs on this film can only be acquired through the VHS medium; though there is a soundtrack, it provides music from an NBC Charles Schultz special, not this film. Consumers, beware! :) Secondly, the novel compositions by Rod McKuen, such as “Champion Charlie Brown” and “Boy Named Charlie Brown” are heartwarming and appetizing, again with paradoxically vivid and frail lyrics (these too, unfortunately, are unavailable on CD) . The animation is enjoyable. I care for the knowing, gratified hues of the wallpaper in Charlie’s hotel room and his bathroom. And yes, the visual rendition of Beethoven’s “Pathetique Sonata” is fair, with animation reminding you of the “Eleanor Rigby” scene from “Yellow Submarine” (NOT the psychedelic type) ; for some, it can definitely be a tear-jerker. Snoopy’s glowing skate at Rockerfeller Plaza in Unusual York City is additionally palatable. If you’re a parent concerned with the lessons your child may learn from this film, allow me to note you with a list: gleeful scream with who we are, acceptance of failure, healthy appreciation of victory, and perhaps most of all, how to be a friend. Charming. Magnificent. It will bring a smile to your face even after years of viewing. You will NOT be disappointed with this win.

Seeing as how quite a few of the online reviews for this particular DVD are quite hard to read, I shall provide you with gleaming (and metaphorical) insight to the wonder that is Zim.

I remember seeing the commercials for Zim on Nickelodeon and thinking that this is something worth seeing. Sadly, I didn’t earn around to watching it until Nanozim came out, and I was officially bent.

I can sum up the wonder of this series in one word: screaming.

All of the issue actors and actresses in this point to cry at the top of their lungs. And it’s a proven fact that the public likes screaming.

With knowing colors and quirky animation, this explain is obvious to retain the interest of people with the shortest attention spans. Being one of those people, I can vouch for that.

The reason I’m indignant about this particular spot…

Well, actually, there are several reasons:

1) Commentary on most of my popular episodes. Please do not miss out on this! I never laughed so hard in my life. Jhonen has to be one of the funniest and most charming cartoonists on Earth honest now. Please… please hit that button on your remote and listen to the freakin’ commentary.

2) This brings us closer to the unaired episodes!

I’ve had the privilege of seeing a few of the unaired eps and I have to say, the writing is wittier, the colors are brighter, and the acting is doomier and squishier. (Those are determined adjectives, by the method) .

3) High quality versions of the all the episodes that were so horribly broadcasted on cable television.

4) Extras! Extras! And more extras!

5) At such a cheap tag, it feels like I’m stealing it.

I also own that the second volume of this series starts with Plague of Babies and goes on through until it stops at promenade For Your Lives. This pleases me greatly, as some of the best episodes were towards the waste of the first season.

That’s all I have to say about this DVD.

The volume practically sells itself.

And it wins a box of adhesive medical strips.

JAG is one of the most fair and consuming shows on television! The characters are believeable as are the actors. I can’t accumulate enough of the series when I can accept it on the tv (6am – 8am weekdays) and wish they would honest effect ALL of the 10 yrs. of shows out. I don’t like waiting on them! I grew up in a Navy family and I unbiased describe well to the point to. The cast is supurb in their acting and the stories are exciting…bring ‘em on!

When JAG first came out on television, producers and critics anticipated a hard-to-please audience. Even the military was skeptical about the present and didn’t succor or add to it for the entire first season. Once audiences, critics and military leaders caught a peer of the exhibit, however, all that changed.

Buy,Download, Or Stream JAG! Click Here

JAG is a pro-military, pro-American “courtroom” drama series with a few key elements: it portrays the American military in a obvious light, which was very rare during the times of the first few seasons; it also sports a “courtroom” drama element, and I spend courtroom in quotes for a reason.

JAG is astonishing at identifying with a population of military members, families, and pro-military civilians, but it also attracts the audiences as a action-pumped good demonstrate without being breeze to the courtroom. And with the introduction of Catherine Bell in the second series, helped to build a dynamic mold between the two main characters that perpetuated the expose for several outstanding seasons.

JAG, arguable one of the best series of its time, and one of the most accepted amongst the military, continues to attract and support its fans in the 6th season.

You really ought to fetch this state. This isn’t something to miss.

Let me start by saying I am not normally a fan of the “Clueless” type character, but this is far from what I expected going into this movie. Reese Witherspoon’s character “Elle” is a sweet, amusing, shining and completely likeable character and has you caring for her and rooting for her to get and demonstrate everyone defective. After being dumped by her boyfriend Warner because he view she wasn’t sparkling enough for a future lawyer or senator, she follows him to Harvard clear to secure him succor. While she struggles with fitting in, she slowly wins over several of her classmates, and proves she is no humdrum blonde. This movie is fun, and well worth seeing. I was skeptical about this movie, but don’t let the trailer and poor critic reviews turn you off of this intellectual and comical film.

As a blonde myself, I really should have been offended by this feature-length blonde joke, but hey, this flick is genuine fluff. Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is a self-absorbed sorority president and fashion major who expects to marry her college sweetheart Warner (Matthew Davis) . When Warner dumps her because she isn’t the perfect accompaniment to his expected Harvard Law degree (too great Marilyn Monroe and not enough Jackie Kennedy), her whole world crashes around her until the solution hits her: Why doesn’t she become the woman Warner wants by following him to Harvard Law School? To Elle, who has a specialty in The History of Polka Dots, this seems like a no-brainer, and since she doesn’t seem to know how to employ her brain, the hilarity begins. She manages to secure into Harvard through a brazen video, expansive LSAT’s (for which she actually studied), and by aesthetic every last member of the admissions committee.

Who cares about realism when you’ve got a clueless blonde mixing with over-achieving, nerdy law students? The always well-liked Elle becomes the class outcast, with a tongue-tied, good-hearted manicurist (played memorably by Jennifer Coolidge) as her only friend. Director Luketic deserves sizable credit for keeping Elle’s core personality intact despite the shiny transformation; the gaze of her knowing iMac in the sea of charcoal gray laptops is pitch-perfect as a symbol of her increasing seriousness but unwillingness to give into the nerd culture. In her sorority house, Elle is but one of many blondes. At Harvard, she is an individualist.

This film is completely preposterous and doesn’t care – that’s the fun of it. Although the eventual triumph of Elle is predictable, how she gets there is not, making this film scrumptious every step of the draw. The script is surprisingly shiny for fluff and is a stout reason for the success of this extended blonde joke.

For mindless entertainment, you can’t beat this film. “Legally Blonde” is one of those guilty pleasures you might despise to admit having. Remember, you can always spy it in the privacy of your possess home where no one but your closest relatives can hear you laugh at the antics of Elle Woods.

I have seen thousands of films in my life, and concept nothing could surprise me anymore on a veil. Amelie proved me I was sinister. Instead of writing another “best film ever” comment, I would like to give some indications for non-french speaking viewers, as the translation might have made some lines a bit obscure.

Amelie says to Colignon “Meme les artichauds ont du coeur” (Even artichokes have a heart) . In french, “un coeur d’artichaud” (an artichoke heart) is a person that falls very often and easily in admire.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Amelie! Click Here

Colignon calls Amelie “Amelie-melo” (squawk “ah-may-LEE-may-low”) which sounds like “un meli-melo”, a muddle or mix-up.

In the cafe, people discuss about time and weather, as the same word “temps” means both “le temps qui musty” (time that passes) and “le temps qu’il fait” (the weather) . So goes Hippolito’s theory : they voice about the weather because they are tremulous of the passing time.

Collignon says about his mother : “Elle a une memoire d’elephant, un elephant de mer” (literally: she has memory like an elephant, a sea elephant) . A “sea elephant” is a sort of walrus, and “mer” (sea) and “mere” (mother) are pronounced the same.

When Amelie is in a theater, she watches “Jules & Jim”, a movie by Francois Truffaut. There are many references to Truffaut in the movie : Claire Maurier plays the mother in “the 400 blows” and many scenes refer to “Bed and Board”, which itself refers to Hitchcock’s “Rear window”. I composed have to figure which was the movie whith Spencer Tracy driving without watching…

Buy,Download, Or Stream Amelie! Click Here

When Amelie watches her projected life on TV, a scene that refers to Woody Allen’s “Zelig”, the articulate over is from Frederic Mitterand, nephew of his uncle, who is well-known for commenting weddings or funerals of aristocrats on french TV.
The “likes/dislikes” narration was experimented by Jeunet in a short movie “Foutaise” with Dominique Pinon, that will be included in the collector edition of the DVD. It also refers to “La vie, mode d’emploi” (Life: a user’s manual) from Georges Perec, although Jeunet admits he could never do the book.
Most TV scenes are stock shots. The myth about the horse running in the Tour de France is good. Most stories told in the film are fair, including the one about collecting discarded pictures.
There are numerous references in the movie, including to other Jeunet films. The scene in the mystery instruct is almost a copy of a similar scene in Alien : Resurrection where Ripley has an almost tender behaviour with the alien.
Finally, “Amelie” comes from “Emily”, as Emily Watson was supposed to play the role, and “Poulain” is both a young untrained horse and a chocolate notice. And this is not a coincidence.

Like the star of Chocolat, the title character of this magical comedy also wants to heal people inside. But this particular healer is a daydreamer with an irresistible smile, a Louise Brooks bob hairstyle or an Audrey Hepburn-like bun when it’s tied up, and will charm the pants off the iciest of souls.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Amelie! Click Here

The only-child of a tight-lipped, hard-hearted doctor father and a neurotic schoolteacher mother, Amelie Poulaine grew up being too powerful unloved, with a not too blissful childhood. As a young lady, she becomes a waitress at the Two Windmills cafe, but other times spends her time in an imaginative world of dreams, not forming discontinuance ties with people, being terribly worried.

One day, she is watching TV when Princess Diana’s death is announced. From then on, she decides to be a healer of sorts, whether it be uniting a man with childhood memories he left in a cubbyhole in the skirting board long time ago, trying to soothe the hearts of people, originate people’s lives better, or being an avenging angel. The scene where she helps a blind man across the street and describes what’s going on is simply magical.

Amelie is also befriended by artist Raymond Dufayel, known as the Glass Man because of a disease that has given him very brittle bones. They communicate indirectly through a painting he’s working on, particularly a young girl that Dufayel’s trying to figure out.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Amelie! Click Here

Amelie meets Nino Quincompoix, a man who collects discarded, frequently torn ID card photos from a photo booth and puts the reconstructed pieces in an album. Included in there many times is a stern bald man whose pictures are always torn up. Amelie finds Nino’s album and wonders who the bald man is. This is a mystery included in the film.

There’s Colignon the grocer, an irascible middle-aged man who delights himself in disparaging his assistant Lucien, who’s slow-witted but nice and sensitive. Amelie feels sorry for Lucien and the scenes where she becomes his avenging angel at Colignon’s expense are hilarious. At one point she tells Colignon, “You’ll never be a vegetable. Even artichokes have hearts.” Ouch, but well deserved.

Amelie’s widowed father spends his life collecting garden statues to decorate his expressionless wife’s shrine, instead of travelling around the world. Amelie steals one of them, a bearded garden gnome complete with red pointed hat, and then something curious happens. A few days later, her father receives a postcard from the gnome, who is apparently on holiday abroad!!! This goes on for a while and completely baffles him.

Audrey Tautou would’ve been my choice for Best Actress of the year. I simply melted everytime she smiled in the movie. She also bears a miniature similarity to another Audrey–Hepburn. Both have in well-liked sunless hair, a face brimming with charm, and irresistible smiles. Maybe that’s why it was worship at first discover with me.

Director Jean-Pierre Jeunet uses some quirky film techniques, mostly visual imagery, such as a scene when Amelie literally dissolves into water. The onscreen narration is also useful. At times, it sets the stage for turning points in the film. Earlier, it describes the likes and hates of the Poulaines and the one indispensable characteristic of the Two Windmill employees. He creates an imaginative film that’s a breather from the usual Hollywood grind. But it’s his closeups of Amelie and her smile that do this worth seeing over and over.

As for audio, audio is presented in English Dolby Digital 5.1. For home theater owners with a receiver, the audio is front and channel driven with the dialogue being certain and understandable and the opening theme song coming quite entertaining. But for the most piece, the audio is pleasurable for a comedy. Personally, I had my receiver location at stereo on all channels as my essential selection and preference in hearing the series.

JUDGMENT CALL:

I absolutely admire “30 ROCK”. The third season showed no signs of slowdown and every episode, you unprejudiced want to laugh because the characters are hilarious but most of all, the writing is objective top notch. And all 22 episodes in the third season does not disappoint at all.

With the second season DVD release from last year, the note was really facing major challenges as the Writers Guild Strike really slice down on the episodes and no one knew if NBC was going to slay the explain but they gave it some time and next thing you know, the display won many awards. The fact that the display has been nominated for 22 awards in 2009 alone is a testament of how people respect the show’s writing and its talent. As mentioned earlier in my review, “30 ROCK” is one of those rare and current shows on television and everything manages to work perfectly.

I’ve watched Season 3 on television and I couldn’t wait to discover the episodes again, that’s how distinguished I really indulge in this series. It’s witty, fun and comedy that is highly spellbinding! In fact, as for current episodes, there is unprejudiced so many. From finding out who Liz Lemon was talking to on the plane gallop in the episode “Bear in the Stars”, to stare the reuniting of the “Night Court” characters and also gape Jennifer Aniston’s “Claire” getting into mischief in “The One with the Cast of Night Court”, Kenneth going on a date with a blind staffer with Tracy’s befriend in “St. Valentine’s Day”, Jack seeing a duplicate of himself on the Spanish soap opera in “Generalissimo” or Liz and Jack visiting Liz’s high school reunion in the episode titled “Reunion”. There are impartial too many amazing episodes from this third season, that I can’t examine any fan being disappointed.

As for the DVD release of “30 ROCK – Season 3, this DVD is literally a solid release. Not only do you score all 22 episodes, 7 audio commentary (and the righteous news is that they give a variety of talent, even guest stars a chance to steal allotment in the audio commentary) but you also acquire a agreeable number of other special features that really round out this incredible DVD release. Overall, the display is fabulous and the only thing I can hope for is that Universal considers releasing “30 Rock” on Blu-ray via High Definition.

But there is nothing negative I can say about this release. It’s a solid release and fans of the series will definitely net their money’s worth! “30 ROCK – Season 3 is highly recommended.

Tina Fey is a genius. Tracey Morgan is the funniest man in prove business. Alec Baldwin’s laughable timing cannot be beat. Jack McBrayer is so odd, he’s addicting. Any fan of this point to is going to want to accept all three seasons of DVDs. Hoping this display runs for years!

A film by James Moll

Winner of the 1998 Academy Award for Best Documentary

I do not feel that I have the words to adequately relate this film and my reaction to it. I have seen “Schindler’s List”, it is a considerable, haunting film. While it is based on a actual event of the Shoah, it is calm a fictional film. There are actors playing parts and despite the brutality we witness in the movie, everyone goes home at the extinguish of the day. What makes “The Last Days” so mighty more grand is that the five distinguished interviewees are survivors of the Holocaust. They are telling their stories of their lives and their experiences of Hitler’s Final Solution. There is right video footage, and photographs from the time, and it is smooth unpleasant to hear and to inspect, and I would suggest that it remains notable to hear and to peruse.

This is the narrative of five Jews from Hungary. They notify of their experiences before, during, and after the war. They were all in various camps: Auschwitz, Dachau, Buchenwald, Bergen-Belsen. Their stories are wonderful, and since the stories are being told by the men and women who experienced the Holocaust, they are all the more remarkable. We learn how they were rounded up and do into the swear cars, what they view, why they didn’t actively resist, and what happened to the rest of their families. We also obtain to gaze them each go support for the first time to the concentration camps they were held in. They are with their children, and are revealing cramped details, mostly painful, as they remember them. One man, as he walks through the gates says that even after all these years, the memories are fair as unique as when he was a prisoner.

I don’t feel that my description does this film justice. It is a gorgeous, considerable, and ultimately valuable movie. Despite the fact that we may have heard various stories of the Holocaust over the years, we aloof need to hear these stories because stunning soon there will be nobody left alive who lived through it, and these stories will be all that is left. These are well-known stories, and “The Last Days” does an exceptional job at telling these five stories.

This documentary of five Hungarian survivors of the holocaust is not a comfortable movie to gawk. We cannot do gain that it is an re-enactment by actors; we are not distanced from it by the general news clips. Instead, this tightly edited film brings five individual stories of proper people to the veil with a scorching reality. In the last six months of WWII, Hitler concentrated his resources in deporting 440,000 Hungarian Jews even after he knew the war was lost. The five people in the documentary, then teenagers, were caught up in this brutal chapter of history, and each one tells his or her account against a backdrop of rare footage of films that were taken by the Nazis. Now in their unhurried 60s and 70s, each one of these survivors, surrounded by loving families, visit the scene of the devastation, and mumble their stories.

Steven Spielberg is the executive producer of this microscopic gem of a film, a memorial to the unfriendly truth, and I am distinct it is his name which brings this film to movie theaters, where I first saw this film. The theater complex on had only two showings — at noon and at 4:55 p.m. I cannot back but wonder why it was deemed unfit for Saturday night viewing, because every seat was taken in the miniature theater. I cried, and heard the sobbing of the people around me. It was that kind of film. The human beings on the camouflage were so steady. Their stories so lawful. Their lives so shattered. And then rebuilt. A living testimony to the survival of the human spirit. It’s a testimony also of what can be done with film. How a history can be preserved. How snapshots of exact life can be recorded. As I left the theater, my eyes swollen from crying, my soul sick from what I have objective seen, there were lines of people waiting to procure into gawk the latest romantic comedy, the newest thriller, the silliest cartoons. My heart was tranquil beating wildly as I gulped the current air outside the theater and walked slowly home, the alarm and the history collected touching my raw nerves. I cannot succor but assume about the other shaded stories in history that wail out to be memorialized in this device. And the fact that without a astronomical name like Spielberg, or the gracious funding, these stories will never be told. But why do we need to know? What grand does it do? How can it change our lives to relive over and over again the many atrocities of humankind? The respond lives in the perspective it gives us as we go about our lives. We are only a allotment of the continuum of history. It is luck or karma or unbiased the random winds of life that give us our lives of abundance. And when I cease, and assume about it seriously, I can only give thanks for my unbelievable life.
